Sapiens seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator with expertise in managing Oracle and PostgreSQL as Secondary Skillset. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of these critical database environments. You will work closely with the development, infrastructure, and support teams to provide best-in-class database administration services.

What you’ll do:
- Oracle Database Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases (19c) in AWS.
- Leverage AWS services like RDS, EC2, EFS, and S3 for Oracle database management.
- Design and implement Oracle database solutions in AWS cloud, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery using AWS native tools like RDS Multi-AZ, Snapshot replication, EC2 with Data Guard, Oracle RAC on AWS, etc.
- Monitor Oracle database performance using AWS tools like CloudWatch and AWS Performance Insights.
- Manage backup and recovery strategies using AWS Backup, S3, and Oracle RMAN.
- Perform Oracle database migration to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or other migration tools.
- Implement security best practices for Oracle on AWS, including encryption, access controls, and auditing.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL code in cloud environments.
- Analyse Oracle workloads, usage patterns, and resource consumption using AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and other cost management tools.
- Implement monitoring and reporting systems to track resource usage and costs.
- Provide recommendations for optimizing infrastructure costs, including scaling resources, usage optimization, and rightsizing Oracle environments.
- PostgreSQL Database Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases (latest versions).
- Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies for PostgreSQL.
- Monitor and tune PostgreSQL databases to optimize performance and resource usage.
- Handle replication, including streaming replication, and clustering for PostgreSQL.
- Write and maintain SQL queries, procedures, and functions for optimal performance.
- Work on PostgreSQL extensions and third-party tools like pgPool, pgAdmin, and more.
- Administer Azure PostgreSQL Flexi Server environments, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure database availability, scalability, and performance for both Oracle and PostgreSQL environments.
- Manage database security, including user management, role-based access, and encryption.
- Prepare and maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and processes.
- Participate in on-call rotation for database support and handle escalated issues promptly.
- Perform capacity planning and provide recommendations on database infrastructure enhancements.
- Conduct regular database audits and health checks.
What to Have for this position.
Must have Skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Oracle Expertise:
- Proficiency in Oracle versions (19c).
- Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard.
- Strong knowledge of RMAN, PL/SQL, and Oracle performance tuning.
- PostgreSQL Expertise:
- Solid understanding of PostgreSQL versions 14.x, 15.x, 16.x.
- Hands-on experience with replication and clustering.
- Expertise in tuning and optimizing PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience in database automation using scripts or tools like Ansible, Shell scripting, etc.
- Strong knowledge of database security, encryption, and access controls.
- Familiarity with cloud databases and environments (AWS RDS, Azure Database, etc.) is a plus.
- Ability to work in a 24x7 production environment, including being on-call when necessary.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex database issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) certification.
- PostgreSQL certifications such as Certified PostgreSQL DBA.
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as Data dog.
