Position Summary:

The Programmer Analyst will work in the Professional Services department on key client projects.  The role involves working directly with the client manager and our internal project team to produce quality illustration systems and related applications for our clients.  This position will be focused on the implementation of calculations to support a variety of life insurance and annuity product point of sale quotes and illustrations.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Will work with the project team to review client specifications and spreadsheets and formulate solutions for the software to achieve those desired results.
  • Participates in design discussions and contributes in decision making
  • Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems.
  • Uses independent judgment to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Will work on multiple projects providing development and maintenance work.

 

Job Requirements, Education/Certification/License/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Computer Science, Actuarial Science) or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 to 5 years software development experience (or college equivalent)
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in developing software using OOP (object-oriented programming) concepts (or college equivalent)
  • Experience in Access or SQL server, understanding of database design
  • Working knowledge of MS office products
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Ability to envision testing scenarios for the purpose of testing whether software meets the application design specifications.
  • Knowledge of VB a plus
  • Life / Annuity Insurance knowledge a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization skills:  ability to work on multiple tasks during the same time frame and meet deadlines with accuracy and efficiency, willingness to work extended hours to meet project deadlines.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to a diverse range of audiences and settings.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivation, flexibility, and a team player.
  • The ability to maintain the integrity of confidential business information, our own and that of the clients.
  • Be comfortable working in a distributed team environment.
