Position summary
Technical Application Support Engineer with PowerBuilder/COBOL and SQL Server background to maintain, enhance and support a Reinsurance software application. Develop and modify general computer applications software using Sapiens coding practices and methods. The role will require working directly with developers, business analysts/support personnel and clients.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for production application technical support working closely with internal teams and external teams and customers.
- Address client technical requests/issues.
- Proactively monitor customer issues until they are fully resolved, keeping the customer informed along the way.
- Adhere to project development processes including documentation, defect tracking, software configuration management, and status reporting.
- Requires experience in supporting enterprise application in production systems.
- Under general supervision, develop, document and maintain a Reinsurance software application.
- Ensure development and test processes /deliverables are successful.
- Experience in handling production deployment.
- Follow appropriate change/release practices.
- Learn business functionality of Sapiens products as a by-product of operational support.
- Complete assignments within defined estimates
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or related field
- 4-8 years software support experience on insurance domain.
- Minimum of 4 years experience maintaining COBOL applications
- 2+ years experience using basic Appeon PowerBuilder
- 4+ years SQL Server experience
- C# experience a plus
- Knowledge of Fujitsu a plus
- Ability to navigate Visual Studio a plus
- Excellent documentation skills of coding and maintenance
- Experience with installing and configuring software
- Basic understanding of networking in relation to software configuration
- Basic understanding of file systems in relation to software configuration
- Understanding of logical database design and physical database structures a plus
- Basic of knowledge of Excel
- Insurance knowledge a must
- Reinsurance knowledge a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to triage the incidents and provide the initial investigation and the details.
- Knowledge and experience of working with any one ticketing tool (JIRA, SNOW)
- Good Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong interpersonal, facilitation skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills
