Senior FinOps Analyst
Bangalore, IN
Sapiens is on the lookout for a Senior FinOps Analyst sits within the Cloud Services Office (CSO) – FinOps & Demand Management function, reporting to the Director of FinOps. This is a critical, data-driven role responsible for governing cloud financial performance, enabling demand transparency, and driving cost optimisation across the organisation. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of finance, technology, and business operations — ensuring cloud investments are aligned, accountable, and delivering measurable value.
Location: Bangalore
Working Model: Our flexible work arrangement combines both remote and in-office work, optimizing flexibility and productivity.
This position will be part of Sapiens CTO – Cloud Services division, for more information about it, click here: www.sapiens.com.
What you’ll do:
FinOps Governance & Cloud Cost Management
• Lead cloud financial governance — owning cost visibility, optimisation, forecasting, anomaly detection, and accountability for cloud spend across all business units.
• Maintain and enforce FinOps policies, standards, and controls to ensure financial discipline in cloud consumption.
• Proactively identify cost inefficiencies, overspend, and waste — and drive actionable remediation with engineering and operations teams.
• Target performance: ≤±5% variance from approved budget and ≥10–15% annual cost optimisation year-over-year.
Demand Management & Capacity Forecasting
• Define and lead the demand intake process — ensuring alignment between business priorities, resource requests, and cloud execution capacity.
• Assess and prioritise demand items within SLA (≤5–10 business days from intake to prioritisation decision), with ≥95% of items formally assessed and tracked.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations leads to align capacity planning with strategic demand signals.
• Provide data-driven forecasting to inform resource allocation decisions and avoid under- or over-provisioning.
Reporting & Executive Insights
• Produce and maintain monthly FinOps reports — covering cloud spend, budget variance, forecast accuracy, and optimisation progress — for executive leadership and C-suite stakeholders.
• Design and manage dashboards and reporting cadences that give real-time visibility into financial and demand performance.
• Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, executive-appropriate narratives and recommendations.
• Support the Head of CSO in quarterly transformation milestone reviews and board-level reporting as required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
• Act as the primary point of contact between the CSO team and Finance (P&L), engineering leads, and operations stakeholders on all matters of cloud cost and demand.
• Drive cross-functional alignment across all SCS internal teams, ensuring consumption decisions are financially sound and operationally viable.
• Facilitate regular demand reviews (weekly cadence) and FinOps governance meetings, ensuring actions are tracked and owners are accountable.
• Contribute to the broader transformation and continuous improvement agenda within the CSO team.
What to Have for this position.
Must have Skills:
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
• FinOps Certified Practitioner (FinOps Foundation) preferred; cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP) are a strong advantage.
Professional Experience
• 4–7 years of experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or a related function within a technology or cloud-native environment.
• Demonstrated track record of cloud cost optimisation, with measurable outcomes and a focus on budget adherence.
• Experience with demand management, resource planning, or operational governance in a cloud services context.
• Proven ability to produce executive-level financial and operational reporting for senior stakeholders.
• Familiarity with FinOps tooling (e.g. CloudHealth, Apptio, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).
Skills & Core Competencies
Personal & Interpersonal Technical & Delivery
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail • Cloud cost management & optimisation
• Strong communicator — able to translate financial data into business language • Demand and capacity forecasting
• Collaborative across engineering, finance, and operations teams • Budget management & variance analysis
• Proactive and self-driven with high accountability • FinOps governance and financial controls
• Resilient under pressure with ability to manage competing priorities • Dashboard design and executive reporting
• Influencing without direct authority across stakeholder groups • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP cost tools
• Tooling: CloudHealth, Apptio, Cloudability, or similar
Personal Attributes
The ideal candidate is more than an analyst — they are a proactive financial steward and demand coordinator who can be counted on to bring rigour, clarity, and accountability to cloud operations. We are looking for someone with:
• A data-first mindset — naturally drawn to numbers, trends, and root-cause analysis, with the confidence to challenge spend decisions based on evidence.
• A bias for action — someone who surfaces issues early, escalates with clear recommendations, and does not wait to be told.
• Exceptional organisational discipline — able to manage multiple reporting cycles, stakeholder demands, and governance processes without dropping the ball.
• A collaborative, influential style — able to work across finance, engineering, and business teams without direct authority.
• Strong ownership mentality — takes personal responsibility for the accuracy, timeliness, and impact of their work.
• A calm, composed presence — able to handle ambiguity and pressure while maintaining the confidence of senior stakeholders.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 6 months, the Senior FinOps Analyst will be expected to:
1 Establish full visibility of cloud spend across all business units, with a baseline cost model and variance tracking in place.
2 Deliver the first monthly FinOps report to executive leadership — clear, accurate, and decision-ready.
3 Implement a demand intake and prioritisation process that meets the ≤5–10 day SLA for assessment and decision.
4 Identify and drive at least one meaningful cost optimisation initiative contributing to the annual 10–15% savings target.
5 Be regarded as the go-to person for cloud cost transparency, demand data, and FinOps governance within the CSO team.
