Technical Support Engineer

About the role:
Our client is one of the most recognizable insurance brands in the UK. The projects we have implemented and maintained for this customer range from traditional annual car & home insurance to Netflix-like insurance subscription service. Working on the project you will go through the challenges of implementing web solutions and handling hundreds of thousands of customers each day. You will go through the full software development lifecycle - gathering the requirements, system design and implementation, and deployment in the cloud. A friendly team of experienced professionals accompanies all of that.
What you will do:
- Responsibility for providing solutions/workarounds to customers' problems, in a fast and professional manner, within SLA restrictions.
- Research and identify solutions to software, hardware, and infrastructure issues.
- Work on infrastructure, system monitoring, and alerting improvements.
- Address client's tickets regarding hardware and software.
- Ask targeted questions to diagnose problems and identify problem patterns.
- Test alternative pathways until you resolve an issue.
- Record technical issues and solutions in tickets.
- Help create technical documentation and manuals.
- Taking part in 24/7 infrastructure monitoring shifts ~1 week per month (infrequent night cases).
Requirements:
- Programming experience in Java and SQL knowledge
- Microsoft Azure or similar experience
- Docker knowledge
- Hands-on experience with Linux
- Experience with Ansible or other Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
- Excellent written and verbal English skills
- Flexibility to work beyond working hours when required during the support shifts
- Self-sufficient personality with a customer-oriented attitude, an outside-the-box thinker, solutions-oriented with good problem-solving skills
